Comida

Just a forewarning, I’m a bit of a health nut (except I can‘t shake my love for candy) and I consume excessive amounts of coffee.

Wednesday

8:20 AM- 2 cups of Rice Chex cereal with a small sliced banana and 1 cup of skim milk. I live in the dorms and hardly have any food in my room, since I have a meal plan. Cereal works before morning class when I don’t have time to get food at the dining hall.

9:00 AM- 20 oz. Chocolate Almond flavored black coffee from Java City with ¼ cup skim milk and 4 packets of Sweet n’ Low artificial sweetener. I need my coffee at this time on Wednesdays to keep me awake through my three hour class.

11:40 AM- 3 oz. baby carrots, small plastic cup of pineapple, spicy tuna sushi roll with avocado, seaweed, white sticky rice, ginger, and a few sesame seeds. I grab a quick lunch in the café inside the nursing school where I have two classes within 20 minutes of one another.

3:30 PM- A few handfuls of dried fruit: papaya, raisins, banana chips, and pineapple. Quick snack before my lecture.

5:30 PM- Glass of water, 6 oz. chicken, tofu salad, broccoli, apple, and a pear. The dining hall food isn’t the most appealing in the world.

6:40 PM- Charms Blow-Pop Sucker. It was laying around and I can never say no to sugar.

8:00 PM- Bottle of water.

Thursday

8:30 AM- 2 cups of Rice Chex cereal with 1 cup of skim milk, banana, and a pear.

11:30 AM- Bowl of jello, kidney beans, mixed vegetables, half glass of Coke Zero.

1:00 PM- 20 oz Vanilla Hazelnut flavored black coffe with ¼ cup skim milk and 3 packets of Sweet n’ Low artificial sweetener. Much needed caffeine to pull me through the day.

2:00 PM- Apple, bottle of water.

4:30 PM- Charms Blow-Pop Sucker.

5:00 PM- Small glass of skim chocolate milk. (THE BEST creation ever.)

6:00 PM- Six sushi rolls: Vegetable, Crab, and Shrimp, cooked carrots, banana, salad with tofu, and 2 oranges. Sushi in the dining halls is hardly legit, but it was a nice change from the usual.

9:00 PM- Pretzels with peanut butter, 4 chocolate Hershey’s kisses. I was feeling a little hungry/I didn’t want to do homework.

Friday

8:00 AM- 2 cups of Rice Chex with 1 cup of chocolate skim milk.

12:30 PM- Tofu salad, sautéed squash, pear, and an orange. Just an FYI: My salads are monstrous and piled high with tons of vegetables/black beans/raisins. Yummmm!

2:00 PM- 20 oz. coffee to allow me to study and sit through Physiology lecture.

5:00 PM- White fish, raw vegetables with hummus, vanilla yogurt with granola in the dining hall.

9:45 PM- A bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper and a bunch of candy, because I went to Alice in Wonderland with a bunch of friends and candy is a must for any movie.

  1. I wish I could be as healthy and food concious you! So many things you were eating sounded delicious even as healthy as they were. Also, your love for candy made me laugh a little bit- I guess we all have our weaknesses!
    In reading the beginning of the omnivore's delight I found it interesting how so many people's food choices fit into so many different categories.
